Gotthard Base Tunnel (Worlds Longest Tunnel) In Switzerland railway tunnel is under construction named Gotthard Base Tunnel (GBT). The planed length of tunnel is 57 km means 35.4 miles and total length of tunnels is 153.5 km it means 95.4 miles.

It must deal with the longest tunnel in the world after completion in 2017. Jurisdiction of this was planned in 2015, but because of various delays, it was considered to be completed by 2018 in 2007. But when work began to move at a faster pace than expected, it is supposed to be finished in 2017th.

As of September 2009 nearly length of 137.3 km tunnel was excavated. The total cost of this project will be U.S. $ 6.4 billion, and at the end there will be some 200-250 trains themselves. May also be interested in the total volume of excavated rock is 26,500,000 tons.

Transit Gotthard AG is responsible for building the longest tunnel in the world and is a subsidiary of the Swiss railways.
