World's Oldest Dog Dies At 21

A wire-haired dachshund, who served as the world's oldest dog has died in Long Island, at the age of 21 - or 147 in dog years.

Chanel (Shah Nehle ') died Friday of natural causes at his landlord's house in Port Jefferson Station, a village 50 miles east of the city of New York.

Guinness World Records officials Chanel honored as world's oldest dog in May at a birthday party for 21 years organized by a pet food company in a Manhattan hotel and spa dog.

He enjoyed butter and chocolate bars - usually feared to be toxic to dogs - Ms. Shaughnessy said.

"She ate a whole bag of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and you can see, she lived in 21, so go figure," Ms. Shaughnessy told the Associated Press.

Chanel also likes to wear sweaters, which was sensitive to cold, "said Shaughnessy.

They say Chanel in her later years had tinted glasses of their cataracts and sweaters for, because it was sensitive to cold. But they say she was alive for his age.
